Heavy Rainfall Alert: IMD Issues Orange Alert for Multiple States Including Delhi-NCR, UP, and Bihar
IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in several states including Delhi-NCR, UP, and Bihar. Rain expected till 13 September in Northeast, Odisha, and other regions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall across several states, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh (UP), Bihar, and parts of Northeast India. The alert is set to be in effect until 13 September 2024, with varying intensities of rain forecasted across different regions.
IMD’s Rainfall Forecast
- Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura: IMD predicts heavy rainfall until 13 September.
- Odisha and Jharkhand: Similar weather conditions are expected to persist until 10 September.
- Delhi-NCR: A yellow alert has been issued with the likelihood of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms till 9 September. The temperatures in Delhi are expected to hover around 32°C (maximum) and 24°C (minimum).
- Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa: These states are also under an orange alert for 7 September. Maharashtra and Goa may see continued rainfall till 9 September.
Impact on Northeast and Eastern India
The Northeast region, including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and other states, is likely to experience heavy downpours until mid-September. Additionally, Sikkim, Bihar, and parts of West Bengal are expected to witness increased rainfall activity from 9 September onwards.
Southern India Weather Update
- Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam: Heavy rain is forecasted for 8 and 9 September.
- Telangana: Heavy rains are likely between 9-10 September.
- Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka: Persistent rain is expected till 10 September.
